Maternal Health Support at Apo PHC: Making a Difference One Mother at a Time

The Rotary Club of Abuja Utako successfully completed a transformative maternal health outreach at the Primary Health Center in Apo Resettlement, Abuja. This initiative demonstrated our commitment to showing love and support to mothers and expectant mothers in underserved communities.
Key Project Activities
Distribution of essential health supplies - mosquito nets, birth kits, and condoms provided to over 100 beneficiaries
HIV/AIDS awareness education - comprehensive talks on prevention and care for expectant and nursing mothers
Maternal care education sessions - training on proper prenatal and postnatal care practices
Community health assessment - needs evaluation conducted with local health workers and community leaders
Ongoing support commitment - club pledged continued engagement with the health facility
Project Impact & Results
The intervention successfully reached over 100 women in the Apo Resettlement community, providing them with essential health items and life-saving education. Participants gained valuable knowledge about prenatal and postnatal care practices and received tools to protect themselves and their children from preventable health risks.
The project addressed critical gaps identified through community assessment, where poor maternal facilities and lack of essential supplies had created urgent needs for intervention.
